Asia Mubashir, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Medical Subspecialities Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mubashir was a Rheumatologist at the Rheumatology Associates of Baltimore in the United States. She also served as a Rheumatology Consultant to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Mubashir is certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). She has active licenses in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Dr. Mubashir earned her Rheumatology fellowship from the University of Connecticut and trained in Internal Medicine at the NYU Winthrop University Hospital in New York. She completed her research training at Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Mubashir has trained under world leaders in the field of Rheumatology, specifically Rheumatoid Arthritis, SLE (Lupus), Scleroderma and Sjogren's syndrome. Dr. Mubashir served as Medical Director of Rheumatology at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. At St. Mary's, she started the division of rheumatology and also served on the hospital's Board Finance Committee. Dr. Mubashir has also served as a Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at the United States Embassy in India. Prior to that, Dr. Mubashir served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Mubashir also set up the Center for Arthritis and Rheumatism in Srinagar, Kashmir, which almost 5,000 patients in just two years.
Dr. Mubashir is an accomplished physician with substantial experience in setting up new rheumatology practices. In addition she has extensive medical research experience and has been published in world renowned journals of Rheumatology and Internal Medicine such as Arthritis and Rheumatism, the Journal of Rheumatology, American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of Nephrology and the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA). She has been honored as a presenter at international scientific meetings including the American college of Rheumatology and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Mubashir has been invited to speak at events at conferences and institutions in the United States and India. Besides English, Dr. Mubashir can speak Spanish and a few South Asian languages.
Dr. Mubashir resides in Abu Dhabi with her husband and two children. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
