Dr. Aws Hamid, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Cardiothoracic Division within the Imaging Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Hamid served as a Site Director of the Cardiothoracic Imaging Division at Emory St. Joseph Hospital (Emory University-Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences), Atlanta, GA, US. Dr. Hamid also served as a Director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program and Associate Director of Grand Rounds and Visiting Professor Program at Emory.
Dr. Hamid graduated from the University of Mosul College of Medicine in Iraq. He earned an MS in Diagnostic Radiology upon completion of a residency program at Jordan University of Science and Technology. Dr. Hamid subsequently completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging, at the University of Michigan, followed by fellowships in Body Imaging and Oncology Body Imaging at the University of Missouri Columbia.
Dr. Hamid earned the American Board of Radiology, Arab Board of Radiology and the High Specialty Degree in Diagnostic Radiology.
Dr. Hamid’s clinical focus is on clinical care and education in thoracic imaging and advanced cardiovascular CT and MR imaging. He is a renowned leader and educator in cardiovascular imaging across the US and internationally.
Dr. Hamid is the Vice Chair of the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging (NASCI) Electronic Communication Committee and serves on NASCI's Education and Publication and Guidelines committees. He also leads the NASCI Case of the Month for the US and is NASCI Case of the Month Deputy Editior for the International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Hamid is also a member of the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria Committee.
Dr. Hamid has earned honors for his research from Radiological Society of North America (Magna Cum Laude and Certificate of Merit), the Society of Thoracic Imaging, and the American Roentgen Ray Society (Certificate of Merit). He is a frequently invited speaker for academic institutions as well as for US and international meetings.
Along with his publications and more than 30 educational exhibits and lectures across the US and international meetings, Dr. Hamid is an editor and author of a book that will be published soon.
