Dr. Claude Afif, MD is a Staff Physician in the Infectious Diseases Department of the Medical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Afif was Professor of Clinical Medicine and Associate Dean at the University of Balamand, Beirut and practiced as an Infectious Diseases Consultant at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center in Beirut. He also served as chairman of the Department of Medicine and was head of the division of Infectious Diseases and director of the infection control program.
Dr. Afif completed Medical School at Université Saint Joseph in his birth country, Lebanon. He subsequently pursued Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at the American University of Beirut and a second Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Houston – MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, US.
Dr Afif treats complex infections in a wide variety of patients. His research and publications focus on fungal infections, multidrug resistant organisms, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Dr. Afif resides in Abu Dhabi with his family. He enjoys hiking, biking and travel.
