Dr. Isabel Mira, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Respiratory Institute at Clevelnd Clinic Abu Dhabi. Dr. Mira is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mira worked at the University of Texas in Houston, US, as an Associate Professor in Medicine in the departments of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. During her time at the University of Texas, Dr. Mira worked alongside the Rheumatology Department taking care of multiple cases of pulmonary diseases associated with connective tissue disorders, and was the director of the COVID Center of Excellence. Prior to that, she worked as a Pulmonologist and Critical Care Physician at Mayo Clinic Florida, when she created the Interstitial Lung Disease and Rheumatology-Pulmonary programs.
Dr. Mira completed Medical School and her first Internal Medicine residence in Colombia, her birth country. She completed a second Internal Medicine residence at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, US and her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Cleveland Clinic, main campus. During her fellowship, she received special training on interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension, areas in which she has been focused throughout her career.
Dr. Mira has received recognition as Best Medical Symposium Director and received an award in innovation, thanks to her work creating the collaboration of Pulmonary, Rheumatology, Radiology and Pathology departments.
She has mentored multiple trainees, including medical students, internal medicine residents and pulmonary and critical care fellows.
Dr. Mira has many peer-reviewed publications, mostly in the areas of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension, and has been the author of many Chapter books. She is an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), American Thoracic Society (ATS), Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) and has presented at multiple national and internationals meetings.
Dr. Mira has been married for more than 20 years, and is a mother of two. She loves art and is an avid runner.
