Dr. Juan Cruz Lopez Meyer

Dr. Juan Cruz Lopez Meyer, MD, is a General Surgeon within the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Meyer obtained his Medical Degree, with Honors, from the School of Medicine at the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

His interest in minimally invasive surgery solidified during his residency in General Surgery at the Austral University Hospital, Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a year as Chief Resident, Dr. Meyer initiated his career as a Consultant in General Surgery at the Austral University Hospital, focusing on Upper GI Surgery and Abdominal Wall Repair, performing innovative procedures. During this time, he contributed to the establishment of the Upper GI Tumor Committee and the Digestive Motility Laboratory, implementing advanced techniques such as high-resolution manometries and esophageal pH-impedance studies.

In 2019, Dr. Meyer embarked on his first international experience as a Clinical Trainee at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, forming valuable professional network connections.

Dr. Meyer is a certificated instructor in clinical simulation, which has allowed him to develop the basic and advanced simulation program in laparoscopic surgery.

In June and July 2023, Dr. Meyer participated as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Hong Kong, specializing in esophageal and Upper GI surgery, enhancing his skills in oncologic surgery.
