Dr. Laszlo Göbölös

Dr. Laszlo Laszlo Gobolos, MD, PhD, is an Associate Staff Physician within the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. In his current position, beside the daily clinical routine, he is active in education and clinical research.

Dr. Gobolos contributed to the establishment of the heart transplant program at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the first in the United Arab Emirates. As a member of the robotic cardiosurgical program, he has published papers on the outcomes, challenges and technical innovations of the procedure, internationally.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Laszlo Gobolos worked within the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Southampton University Hospital Trust, UK. He was also a certified Educational Supervisor of Wessex Deanery (PGMDE). Besides clinical research, he has also conducted audits to improve NHS services, education and patient safety.

Dr. Gobolos graduated summa cum laude™ at the University of Pecs, Hungary and his MD thesis Functional and biochemical changes following coronary occlusion and reperfusion in an experimental canine model™ achieved excellent results. His PhD thesis New techniques and principles in acute aortic pathologies requiring emergency surgical interventions™ achieved outstanding rating in the accreditation process.

Dr. Gobolos completed internships in Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, and Egypt. He completed specialist training in Cardiac Surgery in Hungary and Germany. In Regensburg, he was a team member involved in the development of transport ECMO, artificial lung (PECLA) and minimal invasive extracorporeal circulation (MECC) therapies.

Dr. Gobolos was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Pecs, and also as Clinical Associate Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, USA. He is a Fellow of ACS, ESC, ACC and GHA.

Dr. Gobolos has an excellent track record of both basic scientific investigative, and clinical research. He has authored and co-authored a number of book chapters and has published in peer-reviewed journals. He serves as an editorial board member and peer reviewer for cardiovascular journals and book publishers.
