Dr. Omar Khader Abu Sham, MBBCh, is an Associate Staff Physician within the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Abu Sham worked at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, as a Specialist General Surgeon with the Surgical Oncology and General Surgery Department.
Dr. Abu Sham obtained his medicine and surgery (MBBCh) degree from Cairo University School of Medicine, Egypt, where he studied through a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He also holds a qualification from the Jordanian Medical Council as a Specialist in General Surgery.
Dr. Abu Sham started his career as a General Practitioner at Queen Rania Hospital/Ministry of Health, Jordan. He also served as a General Practitioner at Al Khalidi Medical Centre in Amman. He then went through his residency program in General Surgery at AlBashir Hospital, Amman, for five years of intense surgical training in one of the largest hospitals in Jordan.
After his residency, Dr. Abu Sham obtained the JMC certificate as General Surgery Specialist. Shorlty after he obtained a fellowship in Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery at Royal Medical Services, Amman.
Dr. Abu Sham is married and his wife and daughter live abroad while he resides in Abu Dhabi. In his spare time, he enjoys books, movies and meeting with friends.
