19Dr. Walid Ahmed, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Critical Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Ahmed was a Consultant Adult and Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthesiologist in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Prior to that, he was a Consultant Anesthesiologist and Intensivist in St James's Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.
Dr. Ahmed received his MBBS from the University of Khartoum in Sudan and moved to Ireland, where he completed a Basic Surgical Training program and was awarded Membership of the Royal college of Surgeons. He then completed a residency programme with the College of Anesthesiologists of Ireland. He was awarded a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine, and the Fellowship of the College of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Ahmed also completed a Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Cardiac Critical Care fellowship in Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, UK. His post-graduate achievements also include a Masters degree from the National University of Ireland and a Healthcare Management degree from the University College, Dublin, Ireland.
As part of his work in advance resuscitation, Dr. Ahmed has been a lead ACLS instructor since 2012 and was one of the lead ACLS Medical Directors in the University College Cork, Ireland.
Dr. Ahmed has a special interest in Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography and was granted Testamur status by the American National Board of Echocardiography as well as accreditation in Echocardiography from the British Society of Echocardiography and the European Society of Cardiology.
Dr. Ahmed also has a particular interest in advance multi-organ support and ECMO with an International Diploma in ECMO from the La Pitie Salpetriere Hospital, Paris.
Dr. Ahmed resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife and four daughters and enjoys watching football.
