Why Choose Us?

Our Vascular Surgery Program is led by world renowned vascular surgeons, who are leaders within their field. They have completed the highest levels of surgical training and have decades of experience.

With such a degree of knowledge and skill, our experts can provide complete care for the full spectrum of vascular conditions including the rarest and most complex cases.

From the latest, catheter-based techniques to traditional open surgery, our patients benefit from the most advanced treatments available.

Our surgeons are supported by our vascular lab technicians, who all undergo additional, specialized training to ensure patient testing is performed with the highest precision for the clearest results.

Surgeries are performed in our state-of-the-art operative room, supported by cardiovascular anesthesia, and patients recover in a dedicated intensive care unit, managed by dedicated cardiovascular intensivists.

What We Treat

Our vascular surgeons are skilled in the diagnosis and management of many vascular conditions.

Aortic Disease:

Our Aortic Disease Program is unique in the Gulf region for offering a complete array of services, to treat complex and rare conditions that are often misdiagnosed and can be fatal if left untreated. We offer a referral center for complex cases of aortic dissection and aneurysm disease, and we are one of only a handful of hospitals to treat these conditions.

Diabetic Foot and Limb Preservation:

Our program brings together a multidisciplinary team to treat patients with diabetic foot infections and peripheral vascular diseases based on global guidelines. Our multispecialty team interventions save many patients from potential amputation and preserve functional limbs. Around the world, nearly every 30 seconds someone experiences a lower extremity amputation. This phenomenon is almost always due to complications related to diabetes and/or peripheral vascular disease. The limb salvage team at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has reduced the amputation rate within this patient demographic in the UAE by implementing a bilateral approach.

Vein Clinic:

Using the latest innovative techniques, our one-stop clinic helps diagnose and treat patients suffering from a range of peripheral vein disorders, including venous insufficiency, varicose veins, and spider veins.

Diabetic Foot Care:

Annual screening for diabetes patients includes routine foot care for diabetic patients with comorbidities and highly skilled wound care for diabetic foot ulcers.

A screening process first identifies diabetic patients at risk for developing foot and ankle problems, which focus on vascular disease, neuropathy (nerve damage) and biomechanical deficits and related deformities. The limb salvage team provide preventive care of these patients to minimize or completely avoid limb threatening events. The second part of this bilateral approach involves the optimization of care for patients with acute problems involving eminent or actual tissue loss most commonly coupled with infection and/or vascular disease.

A multidisciplinary team address the medical and surgical eradication of infection, restoration of blood flow to the foot, reducing blood glucose levels, enhancing nutritional support, and biomechanically and/or surgically offloading pressure areas of the foot and ankle. This offers the best chance for minimizing tissue loss and limiting the level of amputation, and produces a more functional extremity and enhances the patients quality and longevity of life.

Innovative Treatment

Our Vascular Surgery team offer an innovative approach to the accurate diagnosis of vascular disease, to ensure patients receive the least invasive and most effective treatment possible.

The latest innovations in vascular services and surgery that our team offer, include:

Modified Branch-First Technique: Developed and performed for this first time globally by our team for open surgical repair of the aorta, greatly reducing the risk involved in aortic aneurysm surgery.

Endovascular Surgery: A wide range of minimally invasive surgeries to treat complex aorta and peripheral arterial disease in which the surgeon threads very thin catheters into the blood vessels to treat affected area. An alternative to traditional, open surgery, it reduces the risk of complications and offers faster recovery.

Peripheral Arterial Diseased Atherectomy: A minimally invasive procedure to clean the arteries from atherosclerosis (plaque). We offer different modalities of atherectomy including orbital and laser atherectomy.

Percutaneous Pulmonary Embolism Thrombectomy: Using the  latest aspirational catheters, we treat this life-threatening disease in a minimally invasive fashion with minimum blood loss.

Hybrid Operating Room (OR): An advanced procedural room combining both the traditional features of an operating room with a state-of-the-art image-guided interventional suite. This allows our team to perform highly complex and advanced procedures simultaneously.

Vein Ablation: We offer all vein treatment modalities including radiofrequency ablation, a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat energy to treat varicose veins, in addition to other modalities  like laser and venaseal (glue).

Multidisciplinary Team

With our collaborative approach, multiple specialists come together to share their expertise. Our team includes the following experts:

  • Vascular Surgeons
  • Vascular Medicine Specialists
  • Vascular Sonographers
  • Podiatrists
  • Wound Care Experts
  • Cardiologists
  • Cardiothoracic Surgeons
  • Cardiovascular Radiologists

Our vascular surgeons also play a crucial role in non-vascular surgery across several disciplines, improving patients’ outcomes in the below areas:

  • Cardiology: Structural cardiology.
  • Transplant: Treatment of vascular complications as a result of transplant surgery.
  • Cancer: Vascular surgeons treat vessel-origin tumors, complications during cancer surgery, and are part of a multidisciplinary team during cancer surgery.
  • Neurosurgery: Treating and repairing malformed or injured blood vessels deep within the vital structures of the brain and spine.
